The Municipality of Clare works to ensure that our community is prepared for emergency situations and can respond in a coordinated, effective and safe manner.
Emergency management involves four key areas: prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Whether facing severe weather events, prolonged power outages, fires, flooding or other situations that may affect public safety, being prepared helps reduce risks and protect our community.
Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO)
The Municipality of Clare is part of a Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO) in partnership with the Municipality of the District of Digby and the Town of Digby.
This regional approach enables the municipalities to work together to strengthen emergency planning and coordinate responses. It also allows the region to share knowledge, resources and emergency management capacity.
Through this collaboration, the municipalities aim to provide a more coordinated and resilient approach before, during and after an emergency.
Be Prepared for an Emergency
Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility. Every household should be prepared to meet its basic needs for at least 72 hours in the event of an emergency.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Prepare an emergency kit with essential supplies;
- Develop a household emergency plan;
- Know the risks that could affect their community;
- Plan for the specific needs of children, seniors, persons with accessibility needs and pets; and
- Follow official sources of information during an emergency.
In the event of an immediate emergency, call 911.
